Reader question:

If I’m considered a high risk driver, can I still get a car insurance policy?

Hyde

Good question.

The first question is why are you classified as a high risk drivers. Some of the high risk are more easier to insure than others. If you have a vehicle that is a high performance car, thenyou are high risk even with a perfect driving record, but there are many car insurance companies that are designed to deal with those types of cars, so you shouldn’t have a problem getting a cheap low car insurance policy with a little effort.

However, there are other high risk drivers that are so for things like many claims, speeding tickets, and DUI convictions. In these cases it will be a lot harder for you. If you do get a car insurance policy, it will be expensive. If you can’t, you might have to join the state’s assigned risk pool.
