Keep cheap car insurance rates
What can I do to keep my car from being open to thieves?
James
Glad you asked, James.
I really wish people would pay more attention to this issue. Most of the time people only think about the collision and injury aspects of their car insurance coverage, and comprehensive is something that is just there, but concentration has to be put on lowering rates for that part, too. Too many people are careless and believe that their vehicle is safe just because it is daytime, or they are in a low crime area, or they’ll be right back, but the truth is that your car is never safe. And when you act carelessly, guess whose cheap car insurance rates aren’t so cheap anymore?
- First of all, don’t be stupid. I know it’s hot outside and you have leather seats, but roll your window up. Lock your door. Take your freaking keys out of the ignition. You may be just running inside to by a coke, but professional thieves are quick, and you never know when car theft will happen to you.
- Second of all, get an alarm system. While these do not do tons of good all by themselves, because we all know how car alarms tend to go off if someone even looks at the vehicle funny, but they do make a lot of noise and coupled with other devices can help save your car from theft.
- Third of all, add to your alarm system by getting an anti theft device. Preferably, you should get one that is active at all times so that you don’t have to depend on your memory, and it should make it to where the engine cannot be started.
- Finally, install some kind of global positioning system on your car. Not only are these incredibly awesome and can help you with things such as directions and roadside assistance, but they can also be used for the police station to find your car if it is stolen.
