Car insurance injury protection
If you have a roommate, and when you get in a car accident that roommate is a passenger in the car and is injured, then are they covered under your auto insurance policy and able to make a claim?
Mary
They absolutely are, Mary.
Regardless of the ownership of the vehicle in question, if someone is injured in a vehicular accident then they are allowed to have car insurance injury protection as they are not considered the at fault driver and thus not included under any liability requirements. If the car insurance company should try to deny a claim by a passenger who is not on the vehicle insurance policy, then that is grounds for a lawsuit. Another thing to consider in this situation would be to report the car insurance company to your state’s department of insurance, a complaint form for which would be available on their website.
