Where do I get auto insurance ratings for companies?

Great question.

There are several organizations that offered ratings for insurance companies, especially auto insurance companies, given in a star system. These ratings measure not only the quality of the auto insurance rates and service, but are also a good thing to look at when you need to make sure of the financial stability and long term history of your new car insurance company.

A couple of companies that offer these ratings are A.M. Best Company and Standard & Poor’s. Both offer websites with rating information online. When choosing a car insurance company, it is best to go with one that has at least an acceptable rating, although I suggest you aim higher. When checking auto insurance rates, always make sure you are looking at the most up to date.
